Under the supervision of Mr. Nazar M. Rasheed, a Fieldwork was held for the third-stage students at the Department of Petroleum Engineering on October 24, 2022.

This fieldwork aimed at understanding the fold dimensions which are important for petroleum geology studies, some data should be taken from the field by using the Silva compasses. The essential data are related to the strike of beds and dip of beds in the field. Measuring the dip and strike of the beds enables the structural geologist to obtain the other fold elements concerning any anticline.

The fieldwork paid visits to certain positions in the Iraqi Kurdistan region mountains, namely: Spi Rais anticline – Duhok city, which extends from Duhok Touristic valley heading to the north until Yak Mala valley.
